The duty to maintain
The responsible person must keep fire safety equipment under a suitable system of maintenance, in working order and good repair.

BS 5839-1 is the code of practice for systems in non-domestic premises. The 2025 edition replaced the 2017 edition on 30 April 2025.

- Visit
- The type of visit and its date.
- Extent
- Which system, or which part, the certificate covers.
- Inspection and servicing
- That the work and any faults are in the log book, and the false alarm figures.
- Work needed
- What you consider necessary.
- Variations
- Departures from the standard's recommendations, by clause.
- Sign off
- The next visit due, who received the certificate and their signature.
What the fire alarm forms do for you
- The service certificate sets the next service six months after the visit.
- Each of the eight is a separate form, so design, installation and commissioning can be signed by different people.
- Variations are entered as rows: the clause and what was done differently.
- The acceptance certificate takes the client's signature, or records that they refused to sign. It is issued from the web app.

The QR code on the certificate opens its online copy. No account is needed to read it.
Serial number
The code, the year and your company's running number: the code, the year and your company's running number.

Share the PDF or copy the link from the phone. Add it to the job's invoice and it goes out with the invoice email.
On the certificates register
A service certificate is listed with its next service date. It reads Due from the day that date arrives.
Issued when the job is completed
A finished draft on a completed job is issued for the engineer who filled it in.

Eight certificates, not one
