Drawings, areas and pins

Written by the Jobivo team · Updated 3 min readWeb only

Every project has a Drawingstab. Add the project's drawings, then pin each job and snag where it is and mark out the rooms as areas. The Jobs and Snags lists can then be filtered by drawing and by area. Drawings are opened in the web app.

Add a drawing#

Open the project and click Drawings, then + Add drawing at the top right. Choose a PDF, an image (PNG, JPG or WebP), a DXF or an IFC file, up to 25MB. A PDF shows Preparing pages… while each page is made ready. The drawing then opens full size.

+ Add drawing
No drawings on this project yetAdd a drawing: PDF, image, DXF or IFC. 25MB max. It opens full size, and snags and jobs can then be pinned right where they are.
PDF
Each page becomes a page of the drawing, with a chip for each: p1, p2 and so on.
Image
One page.
DXF
One page, drawn from the file's own linework. See Work with a DXF or IFC drawing.
IFC
One floor for each storey in the model, each with its own chip.
DWG and RVT
These cannot be opened. Jobivo says so when you choose one. Export a DXF, IFC or PDF from your CAD software and add that.

Switch, rename or delete a drawing#

Each drawing has a chip above the canvas, newest first. Click a chip to open that drawing. Click the ⋯ on the open drawing's chip for Rename and Delete drawing. Give each drawing a name people on site will recognise, such as Ground floor. Deleting asks first: the pins and areas on the drawing are removed, and the jobs and snags themselves stay.

Move around the drawing#

Drag to move the drawing and scroll to zoom. The bar at the bottom has zoom out, zoom in, Fit the drawing, rotate left and rotate right, and a box where you can type an angle. On the keyboard, F fits the drawing, R rotates it, + and − zoom, and the arrow keys move it. Turning the drawing changes your view only. Pins and areas stay where they were put.

Pin a snag or a job#

Right-click the drawing where the work is. The menu names the page and the spot, then offers Raise a snag here, Link a job here and New job here. A snag pin is red while the snag is open and green once it is closed. A job pin is blue.

Opens the Add snag form with the spot already set.
Link a job here
The right-hand list changes to Pick a job for the spot. Click one of the project's jobs.
New job here
Opens the new job form. The job is created in this project and pinned at the spot.
The + beside Jobs or Snags
The same, the other way round: click + in the right-hand panel, then click the drawing where it belongs.
Unpinned jobs
The project's jobs that are not on a drawing yet. Drag one from the list onto the drawing.

Find, move or remove a pin#

Click a job or snag in the right-hand panel to go to its pin, or click a pin to see what it is. To move a pin, press and hold it, drag it to the right place and let go. The new position is saved. To take one off the drawing, click the ⋯ on its row and choose Remove pin. The job or snag itself is not deleted.

Draw an area#

Under Draw an area in the left rail, click Rectangle and drag a box, or click Polygon and click each corner, then the first corner again to close it. Press Esc to abandon a shape. Type a name for the area and pick a colour.

Delete area
Removes the area. Pins inside it stay on the drawing.

What an area does#

A job or snag pinned inside an area belongs to that drawing and area, and both change when the pin is moved. The Drawing and Area columns in the Jobs and Snags lists show them, and you can filter either list by drawing or by area. With Progressticked in the rail, each area's label shows how much of its jobs' work is done.

Choose what the drawing shows#

The left rail is Filters & editing. Untick Snags, Jobs or Photos to hide those pins, or open All statuses to show only some. Under Areas, Shapes, Labels and Progress turn each part of the areas on and off. Both side panels fold away with the button at their top corner, to give the drawing the whole width.

Photos and GPS#

Once a drawing has been given its place on the map, photos and snags that carry a GPS position are offered as suggestions on it. See Put a drawing on the map.

Tip — if + Add drawing and the drawing tools are missing, your role lets you see drawings but not change them. Adding drawings, pins and areas needs permission to raise snags.
